Hi, I’m Sam.

I work across cybersecurity, systems administration and AI – configuring and maintaining systems, developing security controls and documentation, and building tools that make technical work smarter and more efficient.

My background is in creative and educational writing, which shapes how I approach technical communication: I care about making complex topics clear, whether that’s training materials, security documentation or a blog post about self-hosting.

I’m currently focused on:

• Cybersecurity and compliance – implementing and monitoring technical and administrative controls, contributing to ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials accreditation, and developing security policy and process documentation

• AI tools and integration – working with the Claude API and open source models to build automation workflows, enhance research and analysis, and explore practical applications of AI in my work

• Systems administration and self-hosting – managing Linux environments, networking and firewall configuration, and a self-hosted open source stack including TrueNAS, OPNsense, WireGuard, Docker and Unbound DNS

• Technical research and documentation – testing and evaluating tools and techniques, writing Markdown documentation with Git version control, and scripting in Python and Bash
